Wind Relieving Pose (Pavanmuktasana)

Yoga is blessed with some versatile poses that are influential in a number of health problems. One of such Yoga exercises is Pawanmuktasana, also known as Gas Release Pose, or Wind-relieving Pose. A common and household practice, the Yoga asana is mainly known as a practice for better digestion, but its advantages cover a large area, which we will discuss underneath.

Here’s the list of some of the best health benefits of Pawanmuktasana, followed by the steps of practicing the pose.

Helps alleviate gastric problems

Gastric or gas accumulation is one of the common problems for many. Although gastric generally attacks due to the lack of water in the body, there could be several reasons for this such as fast eating, too much greasy or fat-laden food, poor digestion, etc. We normally ignore these kinds of issues in the body which is a very dangerous thing to do. Pawanmuktasana is named Wind Relieving Pose because of its role in alleviating acidity and gas problems. Just a few minutes of practice in the morning or before going to bed can help you fight the gas problem.

Effective for lower back pains

People suffering from lower back pain feel it difficult to enjoy life on a daily basis. It can cause problems in basic level tasks such as standing, sitting, playing games, etc. Pawanmuktasana is a beautiful exercise for getting a much-needed relief from all kinds of back pains, particularly lower back issues. Since there is a good amount of pressure exerted by the spine on the ground to balance the bending of knees towards the chest, the backbones and muscles get nurtured in a fine way.

Full body exercise

A moving body is considered the best, according to the medical point of view. When you make a movement, all the body organs get activated and the metabolism remains in condition. Almost every body part, from head to toe, comes into motion while practicing this pose. The body muscles get a much-needed stretching allowing each of the body parts to receive a substantial amount of blood for retaining proper health.

Improves digestion and relieves constipation

Digestion is an extremely important metabolic process happening in the body. Converting the food materials into energy begins here in the digestive system. To be perfectly healthy, one must have thriving digestive organs, which get toned to a good extent during the practice of Pawanmuktasana. A better digestion leads to the proper functioning of other body parts such as mind, as one is able to concentrate on his/her goals in a better way. The problem of Constipation, which occurs mainly due to improper digestion, gets solved when you make Gas-releasing Pose a part of the daily life.

Sponsors a better blood circulation

Blood circulation is probably the best thing that needs to be bettered in the body because the lack of it may promote laziness and indolence. Pawanmuktasana keeps the blood flow in progress by bringing the body parts in motion allowing the blood to reach each and every corner of the body. The head region, neck, and, spine are the major parts that get stimulated with the blood flow.

Thigh muscles stretching

Pawanmuktasana becomes a strength-sponsoring pose when its stretching benefit comes into play. When the practitioner brings the bend knees near the upper body, there is a strain felt in the thigh region. To bring advancement to the asana, you can lift your legs, bend the knees, and try to touch the knees to the chest several times during the practice. This will help you make proper use of the physical Yoga asana. Along with the thigh muscles, the hips, legs’ bones, and joints get benefitted in an awesome way.

Reduces fats in various parts of the body

Pressure can be felt in the abdomen while delving into the asana. This way, the Wind Relieving Pose helps you shed the extra kilos present in the stomach region. If you are aspiring to have a flat belly, enjoy this asana early in the morning and try to hold the posture as long as possible. The pose is also a good exercise for arms that balance the legs during the practice. Toxins present in the thighs and buttocks are also removed by the ideal practice of Pawanmuktasana.

Having accompanied by a number of benefits, Pawanmuktasana is among the most effective Yoga poses. The added flavor of its easy way of practicing makes the pose a common and popular exercise. To practice this asana, you should begin by lying down in resting position with the arms scattered on the ground. Bend your knees to bring them near the stomach while making sure not to pull your neck upward. With the help of the hands, keep your knees close to the chest and the upper half of the body properly stuck to the ground and remain in that posture for 4-5 minutes.
