10 reasons why we should do Yoga Everyday

The daily stress overpowers your ability to imagine things beyond the basic and do what makes you feel alive. People nowadays feel stuck in the negative cycle, face trouble to handle their emotions, and fall prey to depression. Social media and digitalization has wreaked havoc on the minds of people. So, what will bring you back to the peaceful basics of life?  How about Yoga & meditation? This is a proven way to lead a peaceful life and changes your mindset for good. Here are 10 reasons why you need Yoga in your everyday life:

1. Spine Health

A lot of medical concerns like Asthma, debility issues, and Spondylitis are due to poor spine health or owing to an alignment issue. Yoga is intended towards perfecting the posture by improving the spine alignment, adjusting the drooping shoulders, and strengthening important core muscles’ group. Do you still need an excuse to skip learning or practicing the art every day?

2. Respiratory Health

Proper rhythmic breathing is one of the core benefits of doing Yoga & Pranayama (set of breathing techniques). Practicing breathing techniques like Anulum Vilom and Kapalbhati eliminates mucus from the nasal passage. This activity improves respiratory health and the circulatory system. Yoga with Cardio exercises shall amplify the effects of your workout regime by enabling better breathing patterns during intense grind.

3. Less Joint Pain

There is no one-stop cure for Arthritis but the pain is manageable.  According to a special health report on Yoga by Harvard Health group, Yoga is one of the proven ways to help alleviate joint pain and discomfort caused by Arthritis. Another study honored by Harvard stated that daily 60 minutes of Yoga practice can help with pain, discomfort at the muscle and bone level. The study involved 36 women who were asked to do certain Yogic poses for 8 weeks, regularly for at least 60 minutes a day.

4. Helps with Back Pain

Yoga is a scientifically proven way to help patients deal with their back pain with ease and depend less on anti-spasmodic pills and pain relievers. In a significant study published on the famous journal Spine , it was brought to the attention that practicing Yoga for 60-90 minutes regularly resulted in less pain in the back area. Many respondents involved in the study have reported that Yoga is still helping them in multiple ways.

5. Improvised Eating Habits

Yogic poses like Setu Bandhasana, Mandukasana and Bhujangasana massages the intestinal area from within and improves digestion. An improved digestive power is directly linked to the gut health and eating habits. Abundant good bacteria colonies in your gut helps you eat healthy for most parts, have fewer cravings, and let you manage any eating disorder with ease. With improved digestion and a good gut health, you will continue to have better mental health as well.

6. Gradual Fat Loss

You can go to a gym and lose weight but Yoga gives you flexibility and good skin as a bonus. Yogic poses that involve intense bends like Surya Namaskar aka sun salutation, Warrior poses, and breathing techniques like Kapalbhati helps in gradual loss of weight and inches by activating the sluggish metabolism and inducing some cardio benefits in your regime. These poses are low-impact exercises and therefore put less pressure on the joints.

7. Battles Anxiety

Yoga & Meditation is probably one of the doable ways to handle your emotions well. A number of scientific studies have proved that mental and physical conditions are not two different things but in fact replicated sides of the same coin. Regular Yoga practice and deep meditation pacifies roaring emotions, soothes strained nerves, and helps with Depression. Moreover, Yoga helps with stress response system of your body and regulates the release of the Cortisol hormone, which is also known as the Stress hormone.

8. Beauty

Advanced poses like Headstands and handstands helps with proper blood flow throughout the body and clears the skin issues for good. The face and hair are some of the areas of the body that often face less blood flow because of gravity as one of the reasons. Reversing the natural laws through aforementioned poses enables blood flow that deals with concerns like acne, Rosacea, hairfall, and imparts an enviable shine to your skin. As a beginner, you must include poses like Ushtrasana, Bhujangasana, and Pranayama to attain a glow that turn heads.

The study involved a set of respondents who had pre-diabetes concerns and type II diabetes and a majority of both groups showed improvements in  a matter of a couple of months. The Yoga practice involved during the research was accompanied with lifestyle modifications and use of herbs in drinks and meals.

10. Ovulation Cycle

Yoga helps with hormone imbalances, and helps during tough times. During menstruation, you must take great care while choosing poses to help alleviate cramps and pain. Avoid performing Inversions like Handstand or Downward Facing Tree Pose, and Crow pose. Instead, go for supported back bends, twisting poses, and forward bending poses. These Yogic moves shall massage the pelvic area and helps with pain. For most parts, go for something like 15-20 minutes of practice under supervision.
